Damaged plaster repairing (ceiling)

POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

a) Lack of waterproofing on the substrate

b) Strong contractions in the substrate

c) Application of base coat plaster in thick layer

d)Normal cracking after earthquake

e) Possible coatings application with improper weather conditions

SOLUTION

STEP 1: Remove all loose particles of plaster, before replacing it. Proceed to corroded steel

STEP 2:Remove all rust and dust from reinforcement of concrete with a steel brush

STEP 3: Apply WRM 510 with a brush, for protecting steel against corrosion

STEP 4:After 10 minutes, and since WRM 510 has dried, spray water on surface to increase bonding

STEP 5: Application of WRM 525 with a trowel, by pressing it, with a maximum thickness of 4 cm

STEP 6: In some occasions we might have to proceed to removing plaster from the whole surface of roof

STEP 7:Clean thoroughly surface from dust and loose particles

STEP 8: Prime surface with GLX 298, using a roll or brush

STEP 9: Apply spray plaster SHP 205

STEP 10:Apply NHP 250 one coat white plaster with marble

STEP 11: Rub the surface with a sponged trowel

STEP 12: In case fi ner surface is required, use the DEC 470 FINE putty. DEC 470 is an extra fi ne putty, ideal for indoor or outdoor applications. Leaves an extra fi ne surface, without lines, bubbles or bursts after drying

 

Detachment of plasters

POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

a) Strain on the weather: usually moisture corrodes mud after time
b) The application was done at high temperature resulting bad the grip between plaster layers
c) Poor material selection
d) Inflow of moisture to the substrate, because of crackes
e) Application to unsuitable conditions (temperature> 35 ° C)

SOLUTION

Due to aging, parts of plaster become crumble and finally detach.

STEP 1: Firstly, all crumbling parts of plaster are removed with a spatula and surface is cleaned off with a brush

STEP 2: Prime the surface with the deep penetration primer GLX 292 FLEX PRIM

STEP 3: Application of WRM 520, which is fast setting, on the surface of application. Waiting of 20 minutes for it to dry

STEP 4: Application of WRM 483 CEM COAT. WRM 483 CEM COAT is a cementitious putty, ideal for applications on concrete. For extra fine finish we recommend WRM 483 CEM COAT FINE

STEP 5: As soon as WRM 483 CEM COAT dries, proceed to the rubbing of the surface

STEP 6: Application of the deep penetration primer, GLX 292 FLEX PRIMSTEP 7: Paint the surface with STATUS ALL WEATHER, in two layers. WRM 483 CEM COAT is a cementitious putty, ideal for applications on concrete. Detachment of tiles in coated surface (MDF, wood, formica)

POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

a) Poor choice of welding material

b) Due to contractions-expansions or vibrations created cracks in the grout and from there moisture penetrated in the substrate

SOLUTION

  1. Control of detached tiles
  2. Removal of the adhesive beneath the plate and the surface of application
  3. Application of the ready to use organic acrylic adhesive VKW 142 ACRYL
  4. Apply the porcelain grout texture FMF 160

Detachment of tiles in floors

POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

a) An absorbent substrate led to failure of the adhesive

b) Faulty application or complete lack of primer

c) Incorrect choice of adhesive

d) Inflow of moisture to the substrate, because of cracked grouts

e) Application to unsuitable conditions (temperature> 35 ° C)

f) Stay of the adhesive to the application surface (without laying tiles) for a long time

SOLUTION

  1. Control of detached tiles
  2. Removal of the adhesive beneath the plate and the surface of application
  3. Good cleaning of the substrate from loose and powders
  4. If local repair needed , this can be done with repairing plaster WRM 550 for masonry and repairing mortar WRM 525 for floors.
  5. Prime the application surface with high penetrating acrylic primer GLX 292 FLEX PRIM
  6. Apply appropriate tile adhesive, depending on the application (wall, floor) and the type of tile
  7. Apply porcelain grout texture FMF 160

Detachment of ridges or roof tiles

c) Poor material selection

SOLUTION

  1. Removal of detached tiles
  2. Scrape and remove loose mud
  3. Good cleaning of the surface from dust and loose particles
  4. Soaking of the surface with water
  5. Application of WRM 518 and installation of roof tiles
  6. As an added protection, we can apply on roof tiles acrylic sealing brushable membrane FLX 380 ROOF SEALER (terracotta color)

Detachment of marbles

POTENTIAL REASONS OF THE PROBLEM

a) The temperature dropped to very low levels, thereby leading to cracking during these contractions

b) Lack of expansion joint

c) Poor mortar choice

d) Very absorbent substrate
