Polyurethane membrane has bubbles at some points of application

POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

Entrapped moisture content at substrate

SOLUTION

1: Cut bubbles with a spatula or a knife
2: Mop surface with STATUS LS-703 solvent
3: 3 – 4 hours later apply one coat of FLX 390 PU
4: When FLX 390 PU is dried (and not after 12 hours) proceed with application of FLX 390 TOP COAT

Polyurethane Membrane applied on top of terrace became yellow from white

POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

No top coating applied (aliphatic polyurethane coating)

SOLUTION

1: Clean dirt from surface with water under pressure
2: Mop surface with STATUS LS-703 solvent
3: 3 – 4 hours later apply one coat of FLX 390 PU
4: When FLX 390 PU is dried (and not after 12 hours) we proceed with application of FLX 390 TOP COAT

Spots appear locally on polished cement screed (waxed concrete)

POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

a) Possible entrapped moisture content on substrate
b) Varnish was applied too early, entrapping moisture in substrate
c) Bad choice of varnish (water varnish chosen in wet areas instead of polyurethane varnish)
d) Bad application of varnish

SOLUTION

1: Surface rubbing with an electric sander in order to remove varnish
2: Leave surface as long as it is needed for moisture to be evaporated
3: Apply GLX 292 FLEX PRIM
4: Apply DECOR PU VARNISH (mat or gloss) in two coats. Second coating applied after first one is dried.

In case of upcoming moisture to remove polished cement screed and proceed to waterproofing substrate with DSF 353 SUPER ELASTIC before application of DECOR.

Terrace with existing bituminous membrane

POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

a) Strain on the weather
b) Incorrect application
c) Poor material selection

SOLUTION

STEP 1: The bituminous membrane should be thoroughly cleaned from dust. Where necessary, repair local bloating on bituminous membrane. If the bituminous membrane is with slate flakes, apply a layer of FLX 385 HYBRID diluted (30 – 40%) and two more layers without dilution. If it is without slate flakes, a layer of FLX 390 PU PRIMER should be applied. Then apply two layers of FLX 385 HYBRID crosswise. THRAKON suggests using the reinforcing Waterproofing Fiberglass Mesh across the surface. THRAKON waterproofing mesh must be placed while first layer of FLX 385 HYBRID is still fresh.

Moisture and mold on exterior walls

POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

a) Increased moisture due to lack of insulation
b) The paint was exposed to high solar radiation
c) Heavy contraction on the substrate, which could not follow the paint, as it was not resilient

SOLUTION

Step 1: Check the surface thoroughly for loose parts of paint

Step 4: Check for signs of where the wall has been hit and paint has been removed

Step 5: Small irregularities are fixed with STATUS 100% ACRYLIC PUTTY, applied with a metal spatula. For larger gaps, use lightweight acrylic stucco STATUS ONE COVER, which is soft and easy to work, does not need sanding and can be painted as soon as the surface dries. STATUS ONE COVER does not drip and is ideal for filling joints, cracks and all kinds of openings at thickness up to 3cm, with one pass

Step 7: After 4-5 hours and when the primer has dried, apply the elastomeric insulating paint STATUS ALL WEATHER in exterior walls with a roller or brush. Allow the first layer to thoroughly dry and after 24 hours apply the second layer

STATUS ALL WEATHER prevents the formation of mold, and is resistant to retaining dirt. It has a special composition with integrated UV filters, while it creates an elastic membrane that covers all the hairline cracks and remains flexible without cracking or peeling.

How to fix a defective baseboard sealing

POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

In existing constructions, penetration of water to the intersection between the baseboard and tile or plaster causes bulge and ablation of the color.

SOLUTION

Step 1: The damaged parts of paint above the baseboard are being removed with a spatula. Thorough cleaning of the surface is necessary
