The Group’s new R&D Centre in Oinofyta is now fully operational, serving as an innovation hub for advanced building materials.

Over the past year, the THRAKON – YTONG Group, one of Greece’s leading producers of building materials and chemical products, has taken a major strategic step in its technological development. It has established and brought into full operation its new Research & Development (R&D) Centre in Oinofyta. The new centre marks a new era for the Group and strengthens its leading position in both the Greek and international building materials markets.

Housed in the Group’s state-of-the-art facilities in Oinofyta, the new R&D Centre is a key driver of innovative solutions. Its aim is to set the Group apart and strengthen its competitiveness. It was designed to meet THRAKON’s growing technological needs at international level and operates as a global innovation hub, focusing on the research and development of advanced formulations.

From dry mortars to thermal insulation

The centre’s work covers a wide range of products and applications: dry mortars, waterproofing systems, liquid products and thermal insulation materials. These areas are pillars of the Group’s growth strategy. They matter all the more at a time when international markets are changing rapidly and climate challenges call for new, more efficient and more sustainable solutions.

The team and its first results

The R&D Centre’s scientific team is made up of specialised chemists, engineers and application technicians. They work closely with leading raw material suppliers, external laboratories and universities.

Over the past year, the team has developed and tested a series of new high-performance products, including advanced repair systems, lightweight renders and enhanced tile adhesives. At the same time, it has provided stronger technical support to the company’s sales teams and international partners.
