What do we need?

Roller, trowel, brush, sponge, notched and stainless-steel finishing trowel, drill

STEP 1 Surface Preparation: The surface is thoroughly cleaned to remove dust, oils, grease and other contaminants. Foreign materials and loose or friable elements are removed, while the substrate is levelled as necessary to ensure proper surface preparation.
STEP 2 Adhesive / Installation of Thermal Insulation Board: For the installation of thermal insulation boards in External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS), we apply CLIMABOND THC 403, a cement-based adhesive. The material is applied manually using a notched or smooth trowel or mechanically, depending on the project requirements and substrate type. It is evenly distributed over the surface of the thermal insulation boards, creating a strong and stable bonding layer that ensures excellent adhesion of the insulation material. The working time of the material is approximately 1.5 hours, while the open time is approximately 15 minutes from application of the adhesive.
STEP 3 Mechanical Fixings: ETICS mechanical fixings are used as mechanical fastening elements for the thermal insulation boards, complementing and reinforcing the adhesive bonding. Holes are drilled through the insulation into the substrate using a suitable drill. The fixings are then installed and hammered or screwed until they are fully anchored into the substrate, ensuring stable mechanical support. The fixings are installed according to the specified layout. They must be flush with the surface of the insulation, without protrusions, to ensure uniformity of the base coat applied subsequently.
STEP 4 Base Coat Application: After 24 hours, FIBERPLUS THC 405 is applied as the reinforced base coat in External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS), using a smooth or notched trowel, as appropriate. The glass-fibre reinforcement mesh is embedded into the base coat. A uniform mortar layer approximately 2–4 mm thick is applied over the surface of the thermal insulation boards. The working time of the material is approximately 1.5 hours, while the open time is approximately 15 minutes. Application should be carried out at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C and avoided under frost, high humidity or strong direct sunlight.
STEP 5 Reinforcement: The glass-fibre mesh is embedded into the first coat of FIBERPLUS THC 405 while the material is still fresh. It is pressed into the mortar using a stainless-steel trowel so that it is fully embedded within the mortar layer. During application, the mesh must be completely covered by the material and must not remain exposed on the surface. The mesh sheets are installed with 10 cm overlaps to ensure continuity and uniformity of the reinforcement. After complete embedding and levelling of the surface, a second thin coat is applied.
STEP 6 Base Coat Application: After the glass-fibre mesh has been embedded into the first coat of FIBERPLUS THC 405, a second thin coat of the material is applied. This coat completely covers the mesh, eliminates surface irregularities and creates a uniform, smooth and reinforced surface ready to receive the final decorative render. The second coat is applied using a stainless-steel trowel at a thickness of approximately 0.5–2 mm, depending on the flatness of the substrate. It ensures complete embedding of the reinforcement, improves mechanical strength and helps prevent future cracking.
STEP 7 Primer Application: We apply CLIMA PRIMER GLX 494 as a preparation primer before applying the final decorative renders. The product is thoroughly mixed and, depending on substrate conditions, may be diluted with up to 25% clean water. It is applied by roller or spray in one uniform coat to stabilize the substrate and equalize its absorption. On highly absorbent surfaces or under high-temperature conditions, a second coat may be applied to improve coverage and uniformity. Application is carried out at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C, while the substrate must be dry, with moisture content up to 12%. Drying time is approximately 24 hours before application of the decorative renders or paints.
STEP 8 Final Decorative Render: We apply CLIMA PLASTER DEC 428 as the final decorative coat in External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS). The material is thoroughly mixed before use and applied with a stainless-steel trowel in a uniform layer. The final texture (Scratch, Rillen or Fine) is then formed using a plastic trowel while the material is still fresh, achieving the desired decorative finish. The application thickness depends on the grain size and texture type and is typically approximately 1.0–3.5 mm. Application is carried out at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C, avoiding direct sunlight, rain and strong winds. Under high-temperature conditions, workability may be slightly adjusted by adding a small amount of water, in accordance with the product instructions. Drying time depends on environmental conditions and is approximately 24 hours, while full curing develops gradually over the following days.
