What do we need?

Brush, roller, paintbrush, trowel

STEP 1 Surface Cleaning: Clean the surface thoroughly to remove oils, loose materials, dust, etc. Where protrusions are present (e.g. tie wires), they should be cut to a depth of approximately 3 cm. Thoroughly wet the surface until saturated and then repair the relevant areas using REPIFIX REPAIR WRM 519.
STEP 2 Surface Priming: Apply GLX 292 FLEX PRIM, THRAKON’s high-penetration micronized acrylic primer, using a brush, roller or spray. The product penetrates deeply into the substrate, stabilizes porous and friable surfaces, reduces their absorbency without blocking the pores and ensures excellent adhesion for subsequent layers, such as waterproofing membranes. Where a second coat is required, it should be applied after at least 4 hours.
STEP 3 First Coat – DESMOFLEX AQUA: Apply the first coat of DESMOFLEX AQUA, THRAKON’s water-based polyurethane waterproofing membrane, diluted with 5% water, using a roller, brush or spray, in order to create a uniform, thin bonding coat, at a consumption of approximately 0.4–0.5 kg/m². The membrane offers high elasticity and waterproofing performance, while being capable of bridging and covering hairline cracks and cracks up to 2 mm, providing long-term protection of the substrate, even on surfaces exposed to standing water. While DESMOFLEX AQUA is still wet, install the THRAKON waterproofing tape (KF 12/7 or F 12/7) at corners, floor-to-wall junctions and connections with parapets, in order to ensure the bridging of critical points and the watertightness of the system.
STEP 4 Second Coat – Embedding of THRAKON FABRIC: While the first coat is still wet, install the THRAKON FABRIC polyester reinforcement fabric, ensuring that it is fully embedded into the material, without folds or air pockets. Apply a second coat of DESMOFLEX AQUA, undiluted and crosswise to the first coat, at a consumption of approximately 0.4–0.5 kg/m², ensuring complete coverage of the fabric and creating a continuous, elastic waterproofing membrane.
STEP 5 Third Coat – Final Coat: After the second coat has completely dried, apply the third and final coat of DESMOFLEX AQUA, undiluted and crosswise to the second coat, at a consumption of approximately 0.4–0.5 kg/m², ensuring complete coverage of the system. The final membrane provides high resistance to ultraviolet radiation (UV), maintains its high whiteness over time and contributes to the reflection of solar radiation.
STEP 6 Installation of Thermal Insulation Boards: Install the 10 cm ULTRAPOR XPS thermal insulation boards. The boards are installed as the thermal insulation layer of the system, providing high thermal protection. Thanks to their low thermal conductivity and extremely low water absorption, they ensure stable and long-term performance.
STEP 7 Installation of Polyester Reinforcement Fabric: Install the THRAKON FABRIC over the ULTRAPOR XPS boards. Stretch the fabric properly to avoid wrinkles or folds. The fabric strips should be installed with the required overlap to ensure continuity of the reinforcement over the entire surface.
STEP 8 Gravel Finish: Apply the Gravel Finish over the THRAKON FABRIC, after the fabric has been properly stretched and secured to the substrate. Spread the material evenly using a stainless-steel trowel, ensuring complete coverage of the fabric and uniform finishing of the entire surface. After the application has been completed and the material has fully set, the surface is ready for the final finish.
